Doors must be handled with care and stored flat and level in a dry and clean warehouse or storage facilities.
Before door (s) is delivered for installation, ensure that all plaster, texture or cement must be completely dry as excessive moisture penetration to the door may result in breakdown of joints. It is very important that all six surfaces (which include both faces and all four edges) of the door are sealed with adequate base sealer immediately after the wrapping is removed.
Doors should not be fitted where extremes of temperature or humidity may occur, e.g. in a new building where heaters may be being used to dry out rooms, or where heating systems are being tested.
When doors are fitted to new buildings, the following points should be noted:
INSPECTION – Check carefully that the door to be installed is fully acceptable and in good condition prior to leaving these premises. Any defects will not be taken into consideration once the doors have left the premises.
TRIMMING TO SIZE – If the door has to be reduced in size, (check with supplier for maximum recommended amounts)
Ensure that equal amounts of wood should be taken from both sides and/or the top/bottom of door, allowing for the sealing costs. Avoid fitting locks at the rail joints. FINISHING AND PROTECTING – It is vital that the door is fully sealed on all six surfaces, including cut outs. Use a good water repellant wood protective treatment. We suggest additional treatment may be required if there is any indication of deterioration in the wood protective finish after a year of installation.
Minor swelling and shrinking of wood parts is not a defect within the meaning of this limited warranty, as it is a normal characteristic of wood that may occur with variation in climatic and atmospheric conditions such as humidity and temperature.
